Annabelle has been exceeding all expectations as she prepares for her Level One English Examination.
Annabelle has studied the novel, "Tomorrow When the War Began," by John Marsden and she wrote an essay on the question, "Explain how a character created an emotional response in you."
She has also been studying unfamiliar texts.

Solid Result
Daniel has made wonderful improvement since starting lessons. The question that was asked was, "'The American Dream was never real.' To what extent does this statement alighn with your understanding of "The Great Gatsby" by F Scott Fitzgerald and "Of Mice and Men," by John Steinbeck and he achieved 15/20 for his essay in an exam. Daniel is working hard on essay writing to achieve even better results.

Speech Success
Freddie has scored a resounding 18/20 result for his persuasive opinion speech. He wrote an informative and entertaining piece on the topic, "how the loss of biodiversity affects climate change." Freddie achieved full marks for the oral presentation.
Freddie has strong aspirations and he is achieving at the highest level in Year Eight.

School Production
Alison has one of the leading roles in her school production, "Once Upon a Term." The story line is about the stolen spirit and the characters are selkies. The Queen gives each character tasks to earn their spirit back and return to their human form.

Listening Whizz
Aiden has been working very hard since he started lessons mid-way through this year. He is a new speaker of English.
Aiden passed the essential words spelling test and he is on the Red level now.
He also achieved full marks of 100% in his English listening test at school and he is sitting another listening test this week.

Wonderful Progress
Viaan continues to work very hard and his results are noticeable! Viaan is making terrific improvements in his reading comprehension and writing skills. It is wonderful to see his efforts paying off!

Poetry Corner
Jayden wrote a wonderful poem in the style of Iain Sharp's poem.
Jayden sprints across the field
like lightning racing through the sky
chasing every ball
as if victory is waiting just ahead.
A football at his feet
becomes a trusted teammate,
gliding across the grass
while the crowd of trees watches silently.
When the final whistle blows,
another adventure begins.
Game controllers click and clatter,
opening doors to distant worlds
filled with challenges and quests.
Determination burns bright
like a flame that refuses to fade.
Whether scoring a goal
or reaching the next level,
giving up is never part of the plan.
Friends gather around him
like players on an all-star team,
sharing laughs that bounce through the air
like basketballs on a court.
Not a superhero.
Not a champion yet.
Just Jayden,
writing his story one game,
one goal,
and one day at a time.

Top Flight
Hari achieved excellent top results in all areas for his film study. His overall grade was 87%. The assignment required students to create a film trailer that subverts a traditional fairy tale in order to reflect contemporary values, concerns and perspectives. Hari selected the Grimm Brother's fairy tale, "The Water of Life" as a basis to work from and to show the key idea that good guys don't always win.

Year 12 Advanced
Lily achieved an outstanding 19/20 for her essay on The Tempest by William Shakespeare and Hagseed by Margaret Atwood. She answered the question, "The textual conversations between The Tempest and Hagseed deepens our understanding of humanity’s capacity for transformation." Evaluate this statement in light of your own reading of 'The Tempest' and 'Hagseed.'
What a wonderful start to Year 12 Advanced.

Fantastic Improvement

Dancing through the dew-kissed leaves,
Earth begins to wake.
Silver moonlight gleams,
On the quiet rolling waves,
Whispering to the shore.
Crisp autumn wind blows,
Falling leaves of red and gold,
Resting on the earth.

Year 11 Advanced Speech
Collin succeeded with an exceptional 96% for his Year 11 Advanced class speech on AI Misinformation and Manipulation.
In his speech, he outlined the ways that AI can be easily weaponised by spreading disinformation, sabotaging democracy and facilitating fraud and discussed ways to protect the integrity of society.
Colin worked hard on his skills of presentation to achieve this wonderful result.
