Eloise has achieved 96% in her English examination. Eloise has studied William Shakespeare's King Richard III and the 1996 documentary/drama "Looking for Richard," directed by Al Pacino. Outstanding Mark
Anna achieved sky-scraping 98% for her Year 12 Advanced English HSC essay on William Shakespeare’s tragicomedy, The Tempest, and its appropriation, Margaret Atwood’s C21st novelisation, Hag-Seed. The question that she answered was, To what extent does the reimagining or reframing of an aspect of a text mirror, align or collide with the details of another text?

Mathematics Trophy
Annan achieved 100% in the Chitambara Mathematics Challenge and he took out the Trophy for Year 2. Around 100 students took part in the competition. The questions included multiplication, division, problems, fractions and number lines.
Writing Gains
Annan's writing is showing tremendous improvement after just 4 lessons and he was told that his factual writing about the Kiwi was the best in the class.

Speech
Thomas has made it through to the finals of his class speech competition. He worked on a speech by himself entitiled "Sport: Join the Club." Thomas has set himself the challenge of going through to the school final next year.

Connections Excellence
Aneesh has worked on a Connections assignment studying the question: How groups gain and maintain power within society.
He has examined four texts - "Nineteen Eighty-Four," by George Orwell, "The Lives of Others," directed by Florian Von Donnersmarck, Selina TUsistala Marsh's poem, "Two Nudes on a Tahitian Beach," and Carol Ann Duffy's poem, "Standing Female Nude." His essay comments on systems of power that silence, manipulate and exploit. This essay is his final internal for Year 13.

English Award
Ian has achieved the award for English at Prizegiving.
Ian has worked very hard in Year 11 English. He took away three, "Excellence" results this year for Close Viewing, Creative Writing and Novel Study and "Merit" for Unfamiliar Text. Next year Ian comes back to complete Year 12 in a very strong position. He is motivated to succeed and continues to concentrate his efforts

Comparative Essay
Zavier has completed a comparative essay on "Macbeth," by William Shakespeare and the,
"Shakespeare Retold-Macbeth," film directed by Mark Brozel. The question he answered was: The ideas and values within William Shakespeare’s Macbeth (1606) are universal and still exist today.

Top Student
Alex has been rewarded for his outstanding attendance and grades with a trip to Perisher Ski Resort. He is one of just fifty students at his school selected for the prize.
Alex is currently studying the film Pleasantville directed by Gary Ross for his Year 11 English class. He must prepare a presentation of a scene from the movie and look at the message that Ross is trying to communicate in a broader view of the film whilst discussing a critical reading of the film.

Top Flight
Patti has achieved a wonderful Excellence result in Level 3 NCEA with her research and identity speech based on the novel, "The Namesake," by Jumpha Lahiri. Patti answered the question, How growing up in an immigrant family forces you to reshape your identity during adolescent years. She included research and content links to the real world.

Katherine achieved with Excellence on her Visual text. She wrote an essay on the film, The Lives of Others 2006, directed by Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck. The question that she answered was, "Great texts skilfully combine sound and vision to deliver important truths.
Katherine is making fine progess in her final year at school.

Hat Trick
Wayne's mid-year school report identifies the great improvements that he has made since starting lessons. He has moved to above average in many areas.
Wayne has progressed three levels in Spelling in just seven months. He has worked hard and made excellent progress going from the Essential Spelling List through Red and Blue lists and is now working on the Gold list. If he works his way through two more levels Wayne will be on the top level within one year.

Double Excellence
Surya has snared two fabulous Excellence results in his Examinations. He achieved Excellence, (E8) for an essay on his novel study, 'The Most Dangerous Game,' by Richard Connell. The question that he answered was, 'Describe an important character in the novel and explain how they teach an important lesson to the reader. He gained another Excellence, (E7), in reading comprehension which included multiple choice and paragraph answers on a poem.
