Scintillating Excellence

Aneesh has achieved an Excellence result in his 2.8 Achievement Standard. For this he was required to use information literacy skills to form developed conclusions.
Aneesh studied the impact of Artificial Intelligence and Chat GPT.
He was required to read a variety of articles and magazines on the topic and to present his findings. And to evaluate the validity of each source.
Then he presented his findings in a written report discussing positive and negative aspects.

Excellent Start
 
Surya has snared some great results in his End-of-Year Examinations. He achieved with excellence (E7) in reading comprehension and a merit result (M6) for his film essay on, 'Remember the Titans.' Surya answered the question, 'Discuss a relationship in the film. How did this relationship impact the movie?' 
Surya started lessons just a month before his examinations, so this is a great start!

Excellent Run

Jonathan has achieved a fabulous 80% in his End of Year English Examination for the novel study, 'The Things They Carried,' by Tim O'Brien which presents O'Briens personal account of war. The question Jonathan had to answer was to explain how O'Brien presents story-telling. He scored 72% in Drama. Jonathan has made excellent advances in English after just five months and he will continue to build his skills for Year 12 in 2024.

Amazing 'A-'
 
Chace has attained an A- in his End of Year Examination. The components of the examination included: reading comprehension, poetry analysis, grammar, vocabulary and unfamiliar text.  Chace has maintained 'A' level results throughout the year due to his diligence and application to the task.

An Excellent Start

Ananya has achieved a top-of-the-class "A" in her End of Term Examination. She was requred to write a short story on a character from the novel, "The Crucible," by Arthur Miller. This re-imagining task required for her to put the character into another story in another genre.

A Perfect Score

Christabella acheved an impeccable 100% result in her End of Year English Examination.
Her exam consisted of four unseen visual and written texts;  three required paragraph answers and an essay for the fourth. And an essay on the novel study, 'The Hate U Give,' by Angie Thomas. The question that Christabella answered was, 'How does Angie Thomas use her protagonist to make a social comment about marginalistation?'

Flying High in HSC

Saanvi has achieved an excellent 80.5% in Advanced  English, 80.90 ATAR.  She studied, 'The Tempest,' by Shakespeare, 'Hag-Seed,' by Margaret Atwood, '1984,' by George Orwell, short stories by Nam Le and the poems of TS Elliot.  She also completed works of creative writing.  

Saanvi goes on to study finance and information technology in the new year.

Outstanding Result

Sophia has been diligent and focussed throughout the year and her hard work has paid off, handsomely.  
Sophia received an overall result of an, 'A' in her End of Year English Examination.  She achieved 95% for her essay on the novel, 'Jasper Jones,' by Craig Silvey.  Sophia answered the question, Analyse how the author of 'Jasper Jones,' uses characterisation to highlight issues surrounding the indigenous experience.'
Sophia achieved 75% for unseen text. An excellent result considering that this was her first effort in this discipline. Altogether Sophia will start Year 11 next year on a high note!

Top Grade

Daniel has snared the highest result in his Year 12 Research Achievement Standard. Daniel studied the positive and negative aspects of vaping including components from which they are made, marketing techniques and health issues. He was required to read a variety of articles and magazines on the topic and to present his findings. He evaluated the validity of each source and used information literacy skills to form developed conclusions.

Outstanding Result

Aniq has achieved a spectacular 95% in his End-of-Term English examination. The questions in the examination were based on poetry analysis.  The first poem came from his novel study earlier in the term, "By the River," by Steven Herricks and the second poem that he was required to analyse was, "The Sea," by James Reeves. An outstanding start to the school year.

Accelerated Class & Award

Thomas' extra effort in English, achieving an 'A' grade in his English Examination, has enabled him to scoop an award at the Special End of Year Awards Assembly. He has also earned himself a place in the accelerated class next year.  The examination consisted of a reading compehension test and 'The Big Write'. He had to write a story based on novel, 'Midnight at the Library,'
by Ursula Dubosarsky and add a different book, different people and a different resolution.

Awesome 'A-'


Ojas has topped all previous efforts and achieved a wonderful 'A-' result for his essay on the novel study, 'Holes,' by Louis Sachar.  He answered the question, 'Describe at least one character or individual in the written text(s) that helped you to understand an important message. Explain how the character or individual helped you to understand this message,' and Ojas focussed on the ideas of integrity and honour. This score made up his final grade for the end of the term.

A Stellar Score

Sebastian has achieved a stellar 100% score for his English presentation.  He used Google Slides to deliver a production about one of his favourite activities - badminton. Sebastian talked about game play, rules and equipment in his submission. Sebastian is going from strength to strength in English and well set to begin Intermediate Year 7 in 2024.
